  • In one way, it’s the quietest room on campus.

Inside this anechoic chamber, housed in KU’s Measurement, Materials and Sustainable Environment Center (M2SEC), the “roar” of electromagnetic waves that fill our atmosphere is hushed. This allows researchers and students, like those in the aerospace engineering program, to study antennae and radar technology without the buzz of unwanted frequencies.

Learn more about the electromagnetic anechoic chamber and its state-of-the-art silence at chamber.ku.edu.

  • Once a year we hold Faces of KU, an open casting call where KU Marketing Communications claims a corner of campus and recruits students to stop by and tell us a little about themselves. We’ll go on to feature many of those students in videos and marketing campaigns.

Faces of KU is our opportunity to connect with the people and personalities that define our university — and your chance to tell your Jayhawk story.

Join these Jayhawks by visiting apply.ku.edu.

Special thanks to Abbey, Andre, Donovan, Gabrielle, Gyasi, Hanna, Jamie, Mikayla, Sam and Sara for sharing their perspectives with us.

  • The Jayhawk’s journey from proud antislavery symbol to iconic KU mascot was a long one, complete with several makeovers, an unexpected hatchling, and lots of yellow boots. You may not find its species in nature, but the history of the Jayhawk is real — and surprising.

  • Jeff and Lori Orlowski were in Spain for a medical conference. Afterward, they took a vacation through Madrid, Barcelona, the Priorat wine region, and Sevilla. (Fun fact: Sevilla is the sister city of Kansas City!)

“The Plaza de España was breathtaking and it was clear this Plaza (along with some other Sevilla landmarks) had influenced the architectural designers of the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. We took this picture in front of the Plaza de España because of the Jayhawk on my shirt and we as Jayhawks felt right at home.”
