  • On a breezy, sunny day in May, thousands of Jayhawks, along with their friends and their families, flocked to the Hill to take part in KU’s 147th Commencement. The Class of 2019 passed through the doors of the Memorial Campanile, and as they emerged, the energy was electric and undeniable: These Jayhawks were ready to make their next move.

“The reality is, our world needs you,” Chancellor Douglas A. Girod told them. “As graduates of KU, you have special skills and talents to offer society. Use those skills and talents. We’re counting on you. I am proud of you, Jayhawks. And I’m proud of the great things you’ll do when you leave here today.”
