  • Listen up, Wolf Pack! Here's an important update from Vice President for Student Services Shannon Ellis regarding the federal government shutdown:

    Dear Students,

It is my great pleasure to announce the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents unanimously approved a deferral of registration fees and/or tuition for the Spring 2019 semester for enrolled students impacted by the federal government shutdown.

As a result, the University will temporarily defer the fees and/or tuition, and permanently waive any late penalty for students enrolled in courses for the Spring 2019 semester, for those students who can show they are a federal worker or a financial dependent of a federal worker impacted by the shutdown.

Where to go: Students impacted by the federal government shutdown are asked to go to the University Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships or The Cashier’s Office, located in the Fitzgerald Student Services Building. Students receiving financial aid are encouraged to go to the Office of Financial Aid first. Both offices are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, though will be closed Monday, Jan. 21 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.

When to go: Students affected by the federal government shutdown should go to the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships or The Cashier’s Office by end-of-business Friday, Jan. 25. Anyone seeking assistance after that will present special difficulties that could be avoided by coming in earlier.

What you’ll need: Historical documentation of federal employment. Examples of documentation include the most recent pay stub received, hiring notice, notice of furlough or other documentation supporting federal employment.

As part of NSHE, the University of Nevada, Reno recognizes that you and your families have been placed in a very unfortunate situation and offers a variety of student services that can assist you during this time.
