  • Students in the Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN Program put their education to the test today in a simulated disaster scenario. With furniture overturned, debris littering the ground, and patients scattered in the staged aftermath of an explosion, the students rushed to efficiently and effectively triage the victims based on their symptoms and condition. Great job to all involved!

  • "I had earned my associate degree in 2000, taking classes at night while working full time. That same year, I had my first child. I always wanted to go back to get my bachelors, but between work and my kids, it was very hard to find any time. However, every time I wanted to look for another job, not having a bachelors was a huge hurdle. I usually wound up taking a lower-qualified, lower-paying job, then working my way up once I "proved myself" capable. Back in 2012, when the company I was working for informed me that they were looking to sell the company, I thought to myself "here I go again,” since I would likely be out of a job. I decided I needed to go back to school, and was able to use a combination of classes, Portfolio Assessments, TECEPs, CLEPs, and transfer credits to complete my degree. I am so happy that I was able to finally get my bachelors, as it has greatly helped me with obtaining interviews and job offers! The best part is that my children have said they are very proud of me for going to school while working over 50 hours a week! I am considering going back eventually to get a masters degree, but first I'm taking a well-deserved break from night-time obligations while getting acclimated to a new job I've started." - Allison Hansen BSBA '17

  • "Like many working adults, obtaining my degree online took a lot of perseverance and late nights to stay on top of course work to ensure that assignments were handed in accurately and on time. However, the feeling of accomplishing this goal is priceless. I want to continue on my educational journey and obtain a degree in psychology that would enable me to fulfill a lifelong passion of helping others in the field of counseling, with a specific interest in chronic illnesses, substance abuse and addictions. Finally, many thanks to my wonderful and supportive family; they believed in me when I didn't believe in myself." - Ruby Thomas, AA '18

TESU gave me the opportunity to continue to work while I attended school. They have amazing staff and mentors that made it manageable. It was tough and challenging at times, but I always remembered to maintain focus. My experience was amazing." - Ryan Murray, BS '18

  • "My first job in healthcare was working as an Emergency Medical Technician on the streets of Los Angeles, which eventually led me to nursing school. Even though it was tough at times, my family, especially my wife, was very supportive during my course work at TESU. I could not have done it without their support and, for that, I am very grateful. My Master of Science in Nursing degree helps provide greater flexibility and potentially more opportunities in my nursing career. My past and present interests are mainly within my family, as well as trying to continue to grow both personally and professionally." - Stephen Baltz, MSN '18 #NursesWeek

  • “Soon after I met my wife in 2004, I borrowed an NCLEX study guide from a friend and she, then my girlfriend, let me use her car to go and take the test. When I passed, she was so excited for me. I received my nursing license and started job hunting. In October of 2006, I proposed to my wife and, soon after, started my first nursing job as a med-surg nurse. I never aspired to be in management but my wife always saw more for me. Even though she never finished her bachelor's degree, she encouraged me to get mine first, especially because many hospitals started requiring it. Over time, I got very good at what I was doing, I was asked to be a charge nurse, then became a unit manager, and a shift supervisor. Eventually, at one of the acute care facilities I worked at, I was asked to be the Assistant Director of Nursing and, at one point, an Interim Director of Nursing. Through it all, my wife, her family, and my family have continued to encourage me to grow within my job and skills and to continue my education journey. My wife has a chronic pain disorder and cannot work, but she continues to use every last bit of effort to support me and our children. Without her, I may not have been able to achieve all that I have.” - Joseph Bonefont, BSN '18
