  • A college education takes you places. With the support of Queens Collegeโ€™s faculty, Rani Srinivasan โ€™19 spent her last semester at Oxford University as part of their Oxford Programme for Undergraduate Studies (OPUS). The experience was eye-opening, as it taught her how to be independent both inside and outside the classroom. After graduating with her BA in Comparative Literature, Rani will be teaching a summer class on academic writing here at QC that will focus on helping students find their voice as writers while fostering their critical thinking skills. She also plans to attend graduate school in the near future.

โ€œQueens College has been my home away from home. Iโ€™ve received opportunities that I donโ€™t know that I would have gotten if I had gone somewhere else.โ€

  • When Tameka Edwards-Hepburn's โ€™19 degree was on the line, Commencement Speaker Matthew Higgins and the QC Foundation stepped in to help her keep going with a Linda Higgins Empowerment Scholarship, which supports parents who are taking classes at the college. Able to provide for her three young children and stay in school, she is now graduating with a degree in elementary and early childhood education and will be enrolling in Queens Collegeโ€™s masterโ€™s program to become an elementary school teacher.

โ€œThere is no nontraditional age that should stop you from going after that degree that you want. To not finish would have been a great injustice to me and my children.โ€
