  • The Beaver College of Health Sciences' Athletic Training Program recently paired up with the Appalachian State University Department of Theatre and Dance for an Objective Structured Clinical Examination session on March 26.

    Gordon Hensley, professor of Theatre Arts Education, used makeup to mimic open wounds, fractures and MRSA to give athletic training students a believable and gruesome simulation. Hensley recruited theatre students to act as patients. We love these creative collaborations on campus!

  • Moisés Kaufman — playwright, director and author of the 2018-19 common reading book selection, “The Laramie Project” — will give a public address at Appalachian State University this evening.

    “The Laramie Project” is a play about the community of Laramie, Wyoming, in the aftermath of the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard, who was a gay student at the University of Wyoming. The murder, which was denounced as a hate crime, sparked a national debate.

  • The Hayes School of Music presents Blazing Bassoons (today at 6pm) and Brass Studio Ensembles (Monday at 8pm) at Rosen Concert Hall. Both concerts are free and open to the public!

    Blazing Bassoons will feature bassoon quartets and the full bassoon ensemble performing a variety of music by Mozart, Bizet, Schickele, and Douglas. Two quartets will premiere pieces composed by Hayes School of Music composition students (Jonathan Snead and Logan Valdemets).

    Brass Studio Ensembles will feature the Horn Choir, Trumpet Choir, Trombone Choir and Tuba/Euphonium Collective.
