    The Ohio State University at Marion is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 Student Representative to the Ohio State Marion Board.

    Petitions in support of candidacy must contain 25 signatures of Ohio State Marion students enrolled for at least 6 hours spring semester.

    The Student Representative position comments on concerns regarding academic programs, student support services, and overall experiences of Ohio State University students with the Marion Campus Board. The Student Representative is required to attend monthly meetings and has no vote on the board.

    Summary of Responsibilities:

    Attend Student Government and other student organization meetings to maintain association with his or her constituents

    Participate in monthly Ohio State Marion Board meetings.

    Demonstrate confidentiality and discretion and act in accordance with Board Policies, By-Laws, and Rules of Order

    Inform students of Ohio State Marion Board issues of interest and concern to students

    Meet once a semester with the Ohio State Marion student affairs staff

    Participate in the selection process for future student representatives

    Eligibility Requirements:
    Must be an undergraduate student with enrollment in at least 6 credit hours per semester

    He/she must be in good academic standing-not on disciplinary probation

    Students must maintain satisfactory progress towards a baccalaureate or equivalent degree at Ohio State Marion.
    Continued enrollment at the Marion campus for the term of appointment.

    Must be a resident of the state of Ohio. The Ohio State Marion Board student representative is an elected position.
    The elected student will receive a $900 scholarship (divided over 2 semesters, contingent upon enrollment status and board meeting attendance).   • Ohio State Marion’s Science Club celebrated Pi Day last Tuesday, March 19th over the lunch hour in the Science & Engineering Building, Room 205. The event featured a Power Point presentation about the history and interesting facts about Pi, including a video of former Ohio State guard Aaron Craft reciting the digits of Pi. There were also activities using Pi. Everyone who memorized 10 digits of Pi got a Timbit. The winning student was Troy Stein.463 who recited 53 decimal digits of Pi and was awarded a pie.

    Join us for an eye opening pre-international festival presentation on Jewish culture. On Tuesday, March 26, from 12:30-1:30 p.m., in Morrill Hall, Room 160, Cleveland, Ohio native Troy Stein will discuss Jewish culture. Stein will share some things from the Hebrew Bible and discuss the most notable Jewish holidays and traditions such as Chanukah, Passover, Purim, Rosh Hashanah, and Shabbat. Kosher snacks will be served.

    (Food and beverage tickets will be available for purchase.)

    The Ohio State University at Marion hosts A Taste of Culture International Festival, annually each spring at the Alber Student Center on the Marion campus. A Taste of Culture plays host to a multitude of informational booths, live entertainment, food from around the world, arts and crafts, and short educational discussions. Bringing together the customs, traditions, color, and flavor of peoples from diverse backgrounds highlights what organizers feel makes the event successful each year. Admission for this annual event is free and open to the public. Launched in 2008, 500-700 area residents attend this Ohio State Marion event each year.

    Local vendors, restaurateurs, and community members provide samplings of food representative of ethnic cuisines from across the globe. Donations are encouraged for purchase of food tickets to sample the food on hand. Proceeds from donations for food items benefit minority scholarships at Ohio State Marion.
