  • On this Memorial Day, we remember the men and women of the armed services who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Among their number: First Lt. Leslie Tooze, a 1916 UO graduate who was killed by a sniper in World War I while serving alongside his twin brother Lamar in the 364th Infantry in northeast France. He was awarded the Silver Star posthumously. His granite headstone is in Pioneer Cemetery.
