  • During her time at IUP, Jennifer Vietmeir was able to network with business professionals and intern at the local humane society. She graduated in May with a degree in Finance.

“My internship allowed me to broaden my knowledge of the finance industry, and I’m proud to have been part of a project that resulted in a $50,000 grant for the animal shelter to continue its mission. It was an amazing opportunity,” she said.

It’s your generosity, she said, that allowed her to apply what she’s learned in the classroom in the real world.

  • “I’m able to take advantage of opportunities to work one-on-one with my professors to discuss and learn from their research. I’m exploring potential research opportunities for myself, which is almost unheard of as freshman at most universities.”

And the opportunities don’t stop there, says Abby Cermak. She’s also been able to be a part of the IUP community as part of the Lacrosse Team, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Cook Honors College.

Plus, her involvement outside of the classroom opened doors for her first trip to the Dominican Republic for missionary work, where she saw firsthand the impact she could make on the world as an environmental engineer.

“Your generosity has allowed me to pursue unlimited possibilities. The power of your philanthropy is real.”

  • “My professors are personally invested in me and provide a community of support and encouragement to ensure success in and outside the classroom,” says first-generation college student Kayla Pedersen. She wouldn’t have been able to attend IUP if it weren’t for donors that make the Dean’s Merit Scholarship possible.

“I feel grateful to be able to advance my education and I know my family does too,” she said.

Kayla just finished her sophomore year, and is working to become a registered nurse.

“I was drawn to IUP for the reputable nursing program ... One day I’ll be able to provide the best care to my patients, and I can’t imagine a more rewarding experience.”

Sara Wareham, a Dean’s Merit Scholar, started her IUP journey in the fall of 2018, working towards a degree in political science.

“My parents are missionaries, so we’ve called many places home, and coming to Indiana marked the tenth move of my life. I couldn’t be more grateful for the scholarships that afforded me the opportunity to attend college.”
