  • Our next "Where are They Now?" feature is Matt Gregoire! One year after graduating from Swanson School of Engineering, Matt is an Officer in the U.S. Navy and has been stationed at NAS Pensacola to begin training at Naval Flight School. He is about to start Aviation Preflight Indoctrination — a 6-week course that is the first deep dive into the technical aspects of aviation.

"My classes in the Civil Engineering department provided me with a great technical background that has helped make the academic portion of Flight School much easier...the various clubs & activities I was involved helped spark interests that led me to discover awesome new activities in my area that are now part of my weekly schedule."

Matthew’s advice for graduating seniors: “Take a moment out of each day to cherish the few weeks of college you have left. Nothing will ever match the freedom you have to do whatever you want or the friendships you make while at school.”

In the future, Matt hopes to continue his flight training until he earns the title of Naval Aviator.

  • Last year, we featured some exceptional Pitt graduates — now we're looking at where they are a year later, starting with Chukwuemeka Ukaga!

Emeka now lives in Phoenix, AZ & works for the civil engineering consulting firm Terrascape Consulting, LLC. Outside of work, he serves on the editorial committee of a magazine produced by the Young Architects Forum. Additionally, the tech company he started at Pitt, GLIMPSE, was accepted into the Spring 2019 cohort of the SEED SPOT Impact Accelerator — ranked as a Global Top 20 Accelerator.

What Emeka misses about Pitt — “I miss living really close to my friends, attending the wide range of academic and symposium talks only a prestigious university can offer, and being a constant part of the local Panther community...But most of all I miss Cathy.”
