  • The campus model is back in the Purdue Memorial Union! With campus constantly changing, updates to the scale model are also needed every few years. The renovation to the model started in October, and the map, initially built in 1957, returned to the PMU Great Hall this week. Midwest Studios changed the model to include the State Street Redevelopment Project, Creighton Hall, Land O’ Lakes Center and the Bechtel Innovation Design Center. Come check it out in the Union and see if you can spot the changes!

  • The ways in which humans behave often is shaped at the subconscious level, says Karthik Kannan (the director of the Business Information and Analytics Center at the Krannert School of Management) who researches how products, policies and processes can be designed to appeal to human instincts. In his research, he has identified how one instinctual behavior in which humans cooperate for their mutual benefit, known by researchers as reciprocity, has helped and hurt businesses in the retail sector. #TakeGiantLeaps #Purdue150

  • “There are a lot of people outside of the field that think it’s only a matter of stopping viruses and applying patches. That is the equivalent of thinking that practicing medicine is giving people penicillin and splinting broken bones. There’s far, far more to it than that.”

  • For years, football players smashed head-to-head. Wearing helmets kept the players safe so some hitting of the head is OK, right? And kids don’t really hit that hard, right?

Well, no. Now, we know more about what that damage looks like, thanks to Purdue scientists who are working on engineering away the problem.
