  • How can we open our minds to new, different, or conflicting ideas? How can we communicate our own values so that others are able to hear us? Join JHU's SNF Agora Institute in Athens, Greece, today with a diverse group of scholars and practitioners will help shed light on how we might resolve, mediate, or even just consider competing claims while embracing multiple perspectives—essential work for any thriving democracy. On the agenda:

    * Two former South African adversaries discuss how countries can work through conflict and toward unity.
    * A neuroscientist shares his work with refugees and his research into how the brain responds to conflict and stress.
    * The former mayor of New Orleans, now head of the National Urban League, talks with a JHU history professor about democracy, voting rights, and political participation.

Please note: This is a rebroadcast of the event held in Athens, Greece this morning.
